IGWC organizers met today with representatives of grad worker unions throughout the Big Ten to discuss how to fight the new onslaught of anti-civil rights executive orders. Worker power is how we win!

In July 2020 Indiana University tweeted at Indiana Grad Workers Coalition. In 2021, Indiana Grad Workers Coalition demanded union recognition & collected a supermajority of cards to show for it, too. Since then, IU admin (Whitten, IU Provost) really like to pretend that we don't exist. But we do! And they know it🙂

Yesterday, our Organizing Committee endorsed the following statement calling for the release of Mahmoud Khalil and for IU to take steps to ensure that no similar arrests happen here:

Real unions don't like fascism

If they can come for graduate workers, if they can arrest, deport, expel, or imprison union leaders and activists for their protected political speech, then they can come for you. For your contract. For your paycheck. For your family. And for your rights.
