Temples built along the Indus by Hindu Shahi dynasty (853-1026). Kabul was their capital but attacks of the Turks forced them to relocate to Hund on the west bank of Indus, then Nandana in the Salt Range. After Jaipal dynasty shifted near Jhelum river.

Chauhan ruler, Visaldeva built Sanskrit college, later converted to a mosque. Damaged inscriptions at the site showed he was a poet, '...proof that powerful Hindu rulers of the past were eager to compete with Kalidasa and Bhavabhuti for poetical fame.' aryanbooks.com/details.php?pr…

Moinuddin Chishti came to India with Muhammad Ghori, settled in Ajmer. On his death in 1236, was buried in the cell he had lived. In 15th century, Ghiyasuddin Shah of Malwa built tomb over cell. Muhammad bin Tughlaq first notable visitor to shrine. aryanbooks.com/details.php?pr…

Imposition of jaziya on non Muslims greatly increased rural taxation. A document from Punjab showed - Of 280 males in a village 185 were held assessable. Of these, 137 paid a minimum rate of Rs 3 per annum, that is one month's salary for a labourer. Tax hard for poorest. Though
