Putin stopped reading after the first sentence. Russia won’t stop its unprovoked war on Ukraine without the pain of much higher military, economic, and political costs.

Because powerful voices are pushing Ukraine to basically surrender to the Russian imperialist invasion, I want to highlight key facts that must be considered. Anyone is free to verify them. I start with this: No! Putin does not want peace, he started the war, twice! (Thread)🧵

Now that Trump has given Ukraine to Putin, the Europeans who held back helping Ukraine, especially Germany, I hope are planning already now for the 35 million Ukrainian refugees who will pour into the EU fleeing Russian rape, torture and genocide. For once, plan ahead, EU.

Prime Minister Chamberlain gave portions of Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938, & did it without Czech leadership in the room. Chamberlain said, “Peace in our time.” Hitler took the rest of Czechoslovakia & invaded Poland a year later. You can’t appease a dictator bent on conquest.

When FDR struck an over-the-heads-of-eastern-Europe deal at Yalta in Feb 1945, Stalin had 300+ divisions in the field vs Nazi Germany. The impending unilateral Trump sellout of Ukraine occurs when Putin is battered and almost broke.

And rather than organize funds to rebuild Ukraine, Trump wants to plunder their resources at below-market rates. Nobody has to be muscled into signing a fair deal the way Trump and Waltz are muscling Ukraine on their mining-rights scheme.

This looks more like Molotov-Ribbentrop than Yalta. It’s business, dividing up Ukraine for profit. And they will try, and may succeed unless Europe acts quickly instead of just talks.
