Gaza is officially the hungriest place on earth. This is profoundly disturbing. We urge the Government of Israel to immediately restore aid flow into Gaza and allow the UN and humanitarian organizations to work independently to provide urgent, life saving aid to civilians.

We need an immediate ceasefire, for Hamas to release all remaining hostages, and for aid to be allowed to flow safely and equitably. Civilians must be protected and treated with dignity — humanitarian law must be upheld.

I am saddened by the passing of Marc Garneau. He was a true public servant and a respected statesman, a remarkable Canadian, to say the least. My sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones.
