Despite the 2:1 investment ratio, Irish transport emissions keep rising. Now, the incoming government plans to scrap it, prioritising cars over people and the planet. Imagine the damage this will do to our health and future.

Key points from the Programme for Government. No specific mention of climate or environmental action. In the midst of a climate crisis, this is deeply alarming. We’re in big trouble. rte.ie/news/2025/0115…

Invasive species are not only 'destroying ecosystems' in Killarney National Park, but most of Ireland's remaining pockets of native ecosystems (via TheJournal.ie) jrnl.ie/6595158

Glendalough is stunning—the valley, the rivers—but like many Irish nature reserves and NPs, it struggles: overgrazed forests, unnatural tree plantations, too many deer and feral goats. A glimpse of Ireland's potential, but it remains an unbalanced, unhealthy ecosystem.

The main barrier to public transport is not price, but quantity and quality. However, it would be nice to see employers such as the HSE Ireland subsidise public and active transport instead of providing free parking to staff. businesspost.ie/news/employers…

Went for a hike in Glendalough yesterday. The amount of deer was terrifying. The complete absence of natural predators is wreaking havoc on our ecosystems, with overgrazing and biodiversity loss becoming more serious by the day.

“The evidence is undeniable. Slower speeds save lives. Better cycling infrastructure saves lives. Fewer cars in city centres save lives. A 30kmh speed limit isn’t some Orwellian plot to ruin your life, it’s an attempt to salvage a bit of sanity.” - Geraldine Herbert

🧖‍♀️ Saunas are fantastic for reconnecting with blue spaces, boosting outdoor time, and improving mental and physical health. ⛔️ The lack sea swimming in Dun Laoghaire makes this project a missed opportunity. #BlueHealth 🌊

Storm Eowyn: A wake-up call for Ireland 🌍 Record-breaking winds, massive power outages, and disrupted lives. Is this the new normal? The climate crisis is here, and we know the cause—us. The solutions are clear, but are we ready to act? medium.com/@irishdocsenv/…

Imagine something like this in Dublin, Galway, Cork, or Limerick. If only we had bold, brave politicians and engineers willing to stand up to the car lobby.

What a ridiculous take. Drink driving kills, but so does speed. Total waste of paper/internet publishing this. PS: It’s the government lowering speed limits, not the RSA.

Active transport infrastructure, done right, is health infrastructure. Ireland deserves world-class infrastructure—invest in it, and the benefits will be endless!
