Next week, the EU Parliament is voting to downgrade the protection status of wolves, despite a clear lack of scientific evidence. In order to do so, it has to open up the Habitats Directive, a 30-year old law that protects nature. We can't let this happen. #HandsOffNature

A big thank you Micheál Martin for visiting us at #EMD2025 to discuss the importance of finding a balance between Irelands blue economy & the incredible marine wildlife & climate benefits that Ireland’s seas host. An issue the Taoiseach reiterated his commitment to. #FairSeas

Thank you Darragh O'Brien for stopping by to share his ambitions for conserving Ireland’s marine life while supporting coastal communities. The next few years are critical for progress on Marine Protected Areas, we look forward to seeing ambition matched by action. #FairSeas

Thanks to Micheál Martin for stopping by the Fair Seas stand today at #END2025. Increased funding for NPWS over the years has been welcome and we need to ensure this continues so we can meet our protection and restoration legal targets

The overfishing for sprat is an 'ecological disaster' In February 2024, the Minister of Agriculture, Food and the Marine held another public consultation on trawling activity inside the six nautical mile zone. Nothing has happened since. irishtimes.com/ireland/2025/0…

We're here at the UN Oceans Conference in Nice. The Taoiseach Micheál Martin will be speaking today and we hope to hear announcements, not only on the blue economy, but on plans for effective marine protection #UNOC3

This morning Seas At Risk spoke with the European Commission on the European Ocean Pact. As we continue to hear new announcements at #UNOC2025 on pacts and plans, we need to remember that they will not implement themselves and there must be legally binding actions to back them.

Marine Conservation Pakistan- Indigenous people voices must be amplified in policy making. We have to enforce existing MPA rules first before we continue announcing more in the race for 30x30. The same message is being repeated around the world. It's time leader's took notice.

Unfortunately Micheál Martin didn't make any new commitments to protect Irish waters at #UNOC2025 Countries are announcing ambitious new plans throughout the week and we hope that this will encourage others to follow. However, good news as more countries ratify the #BBNJ
