I got to be on my favourite podcast, You’re Dead to Me, and it’s out today! It was such a treat to talk to @greg_jenner and Cariad Lloyd about the Arts and Crafts movement. Listen to it here or check it out on BBC Radio 4 tomorrow morning at 10am: bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…

Needlework news! Excited to share that Royal School of Needlework has the oldest known sampler from Barbados. The sampler, previously ID'ed as English, was made by Martha Collymore in 1771. You can read more about my discovery in this month's History Today or here: collections.royal-needlework.org.uk/object-rsn-1229

Come read about my exciting Royal School of Needlework discovery over at History Today! Learn about the earliest known needlework sampler from Barbados

In addition to the History Today article I tweeted about earlier today, my blog post about the earliest Barbadian sampler is now on the Royal School of Needlework blog. Read it here: royal-needlework.org.uk/archive-collec…. It goes in to different information than the HT article does, so check it out!

Back on this curséd app to say that the Royal School of Needlework (Royal School of Needlework) is hosting its first academic conference, in conjunction with Pasold Research Fund! Here’s the call for papers for “Stitched Together,” which will be held on 21-22 August. Please share!

There's a new Sew What? Podcast out today and it's truly a celebration of and reflection on the importance of textiles. Go check it out here: buzzsprout.com/1075825/episod…!

On 27 March I'll be giving a talk at Hackney Museum about needlework and other art made by girls at Hackney's female academies in the 17th century. I'll be talking about everything from Susanna Perwich's cabinet at LACMA to my Sutton House NT rediscovery. I hope to see you there!

Major A.T. Casdagli’s embroideries made during his time in four German POW camps in WWII are some of my favourite pieces of needlework from the 20th century. Now his entire wartime diary is available online as a free pdf. Check out my post about it here: instagram.com/p/DHVvcfRsWQ4/…

I got to interview the daughter of Major A.T. Casdagli for Sew What? Podcast and it was a dream come true! I LOVE the subversive stitching of Casdagli, so what an honour it was to talk about his work with Alexis Penny. Check out our interview here: buzzsprout.com/1075825/episod…

There's a new episode of Sew What? Podcast out today and it's all about one of my favourite embroiderers of all time, Lorina Bulwer. Give it a listen here: buzzsprout.com/1075825/episod…

Briefly back on this app to say I cannot wait to speak with my friend Dr. Erica Canela about Quakerism’s surprising early years! Expect everything from radicalism to Quakers getting naked (!) from Erica, and some shockingly decorative needlework from me!

Bookings are now open for the Royal School of Needlework's first ever conference, “Stitched Together: Needlework Research and Making”! Join us at Hampton Court Palace on 21-22 August, either in person or virtually. Find the conference schedule and tickets here: bit.ly/3FUc4kB
