A FUN Vinegar and Baking Soda Balloon Experiment had Ms. Ahlers' 2nd grade class squealing with excitement. Her students learned how to blow up a balloon with vinegar and baking soda and learned a little chemistry at the same time!

Students in Ms. Horry’s 2nd grade FLEX Group are working in teams, using Quizlet Live, to review math addition facts.

The students in Ms. Ronning’s Elementary Class have been learning how to integrate math, science and life skills by mixing and cooking.

While studying different types of matter, Mrs. Bibby's 2nd grade class experimented with how a gas can cause objects to move.

The 3rd grade students are writing a book report project using art and technology researching the author and describing the moral and summary of the story.

The 3rd grade students produced their own line plots, tally charts, bar graphs, and pictographs (Art and Math)

The 3rd grade students also had to create something that flies using legos. (Engineering)

The 4th grade students leveraged their problem solving (and problem CREATING) skills to develop their own Choice Board games. Also, Counselor Ms. Joyner providing lesson on friendship

Our National Championship Astronaut Team was invited to, and honored by, the Savannah Chatham school board at their most recent monthly meeting downtown. Champs all smiles!

6th grade students celebrated Pi Day by learning about Euclidean Geometry, specifically the study of circles, by measuring the diameter of treats; they then computed the circumference and area of the circles. They also created “Pi charts” to look at the decimal portion of numbers

Mr. Eggleston’s 7th & 8th grade Band students were visited by musicians from the Savannah Philharmonic for a clinic on how to practice better and improve the care of their instruments.

7th grade students in Ms. Trowell’s classes researched then created an assortment of Biomes; they utilized many different types of materials and ensured that the flora and fauna were accurate.

8th grade students in Ms. White’s GEP class are creating t-shirt designs to enter into this year’s Turtle Trot Tee-Shirt Design Contest. The Turtle Trot is a 5K beach race which is held on Tybee every year.

Ms. Alston's "Teens for Literacy" team attended a meeting for discussion with director Dr. Linda Ann McCall, and they also held a meeting with Georgia Southern University Armstrong professors in our Isle of Hope main conference room.

At the recent Middle School Showcase, all Connections, Clubs, and Exploratories were represented. Mrs. Cabrera teaches beginning and advanced Spanish.

Dr. Butler: For SY 2020–2021, Friday Exploratories will complement our afterschool Clubs to more fully augment our students’ experience. Future exploratories will run the gamut from golf to knitting to drama and many things in between.
