If you are a pre-med or medical student looking to become a physician-scientist (or aren't either *yet*), check this out! Please note you don't *have* to be a #doubledoc to be an impactful physician-scientist, as Dr. Ramasamy is a single doctorate holder. #MedTwitter

After 2 years on the national executive council, I am sad to say I am stepping down for some new career opportunities that have come my way. However, it is a great opportunity and I highly recommend you apply! DM me if you want to know more.

I have loved my time with APSA. If you are interested in the physician-scientist pathway and are a pre-med or medical student, or a physician-resident, I recommend looking to joining your local APSA chapter!

This has been a career defining experience. If you haven't found your tribe yet (or need to confirm your tribe like I was), you *must* sign up for this event for the 2025 JointMeeting . #emergencymedicine #physicianscientists #doubledoc

Unfortunately, the program I matched into has lost its accreditation. I’m currently on the lookout for a Cat-IM PGY1 spot that sponsors visas. Any help/guidance in this process would be greatly appreciated. TIA! ACGME NRMP® Inside The Match Sadiq Naveed Awsum

Medical students shouldn’t be put on publications where they didn’t contribute. Especially when they are added only because their research group/mentors are trying to help bolster their numbers for residency applications.

In a postdoc application letter on “my behalf “ a professor wrote that I was terrific until I got pregnant… who is the co-director of a pancreas institute & co-leader of a comprehensive cancer center program now?!?!?! believe in yourself! Being a mom made me a better scientist

A resident reached out to me: "I've worked 122 hours this week. Had a 36-hour shift, a 50-hour shift, & no days off. We just got an email from our program director that we aren't working hard enough." Residents are human beings & deserve reasonable hours, sleep, & appreciation.

An urgent care referred a carpenter with a splinter in his hand to me. It was removed with tweezers. Referred a laceration to the ED for sutures. Referred wrist fractures to the ED for splinting. These places offer very little value to many patients.

Very General Orthopaedist Enter “Ortho UrgentCare.” We opened ours 10+ yrs ago. Massive savings to our community/patients w/specialist on-site care. UC’s, if managed properly, can be excellent.

I’m “just” a DO. In some circles, that’s still a slur. At certain Philly academic centers, you feel it. In residencies that quietly exclude us, you see it. But here’s the truth nobody tells you: The system didn’t make me. It tried to break me.

Brent Ericson (@brent_ericson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Rick Pescatore, D.O. I’m allopathic, trained at an allopathic residency and the attending who was my personal role model as a physician is a DO. Post-nominal letters go only so far. You can’t hold down high quality people.
