It might be Saturday, but our student athletes still have some work to put in. Our Boys and Girls Track teams have a meet in Carterville this morning starting at 10 a.m. Meanwhile, our high school will host a Varsity Baseball Round Robin also starting at 10 a.m.

Our Sophomore class had an exciting day touring John A. Logan College and learning more about the programs offered at the school. It was a great opportunity for our students to get a sneak peak at campus life and explore more options for their continued education.

Senior Cap and Gown pictures will be taken at the school this Thursday, April 17th. The school will provide the cap and gown, so all you need to bring is your smile!

We're starting off the week with home games for our Varsity Softball and Baseball teams. Our lady Indians will take on the Goreville Blackcats and our baseball team will compete against the Herrin Tigers. All the action starts at 4:30 p.m.

UPDATE: The Lions Club Vision and Hearing Screening scheduled for this Saturday, April 19th, at the Johnston City Ballfields is now postponed due to mechanical issues with the mobile unit. Once a new date is set, we'll make a new announcement regarding the time and location.

Our Girls Varsity Track team is getting in on the action today hitting the road for a meet at West Frankfort. Varsity Softball and Baseball teams have another round of home games today. This time, they're both taking on the Vienna Eagles. The first pitch goes out at 4:30 p.m.

A friendly reminder our schools have early dismissal tomorrow, Thursday, April 17th. The elementary schools and middle school will dismiss at 1:50 p.m. The High School will dismiss at 2 p.m. There is no school Friday, April 18th, and there is no school Monday, April 21st.

It's a busy Wednesday for JCHS Athletics! Boys Varsity Track is traveling to Herrin for a meet today, and our Varsity Softball and Varsity Baseball teams have home games for a third time this week. We wish all of our athletes luck today as they compete! You've got this 🙌

Last week, FFA members attended SIU's Livestock Judging competition. There were about 300 students from across Southern Illinois in attendance! While all of our FFA members there did great, Gracie Barker placed 40th in Varsity and Sophia Altier placed 31st in Junior Varsity.

We're rounding out the week with Track, Softball, and Baseball ALL on the road. Boys Varsity Track is headed to the Christopher Invite, and our Varsity Softball and Baseball teams are away competing against the Vienna Eagles. Let's finish out the week STRONG!

JCHS students continue to volunteer for the food distribution at the First United Methodist Church. This is the third month in a row students unloaded the truck from the St. Louis Area Food Bank, hand out perishable and non-perishable items, and help carry food to cars.

Our Girls Varsity Track team is hitting the road for a meet at Carmi-White County High School. Boys Varsity Baseball and Girls Varsity Softball both have games today. Our Boys are traveling to Gallatin County, while are Girls are home going against the Salem Wildcats!

Our math team is away today taking part in the High School State Math Competition being held at the University of Illinois in Normal. These students have put in countless hours practicing and preparing for this day. WAY TO GO!

Our Seniors might be done with classes and exams, but this week is a busy one for them. Baccalaureate took place last night at JCity Church, and now their off to Holiday World for Senior Trip. 😎 Up next, graduation practice and graduation ceremony. 🎓

Our graduating class enjoyed Holiday World yesterday for their Senior Trip. Students had the perfect weather to enjoy the rides and pose for some fun photos. Students in our middle school/high school band and high school choir were also treated to a day at Holiday World!

A friendly reminder that all schools have early dismissal today, Monday, May 19th. Going forward, Johnston City Schools will have early dismissal for the remainder of the school year. Elementary and middle schools will dismiss at 1:50 p.m. JCHS will dismiss at 2:00 p.m.
