/5 President Xi just addressed the Leaders Summit on Climate - the first international head of state on the docket - some takeaways to follow: #LeadersClimateSummit #ClimateAction #climate #China #COP26

/5 1) Xi tonally focus on balance and harmony with nature, and the new development philosophies embedded in ecocivilization tenets - no surprise

/5 Xi reiterated 2030 emissions peaking and 2060 neutrality commitments without going further - will disappoint some but is unsurprising; current commitments were announced only ~7 months ago and were unlikely to change at a US-hosted forum

/5 Xi doubled-down on the importance of common but differentiated commitments b/t developed and developing countries - a division many would like to see erode

/5 Xi's most tangible statement was that China to strictly control coal now, strictly limit coal growth during the 14FYP (2020-2025), & ramp coal down during the 15FYP (2025-2030). We'll see; the level at which that growth ends and peaking happens is the essential business here.

There have been a number of good reports on IRA impacts over the last year; this one adds new insights on the effects of new RE cost estimates and on proposed EPA power plant rules on gen mix, emissions, costs and other key variables. Try it, you'll like it.
