A wonderful end to the week at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Birmingham City University as four of our student violinists got the chance to take part in a masterclass with the great James Ehnes. His insights and encouragement were typically generous and entertaining. Thanks James!

I find it hard to believe my mentor Sir Arthur Bliss died FIFTY years ago today. No one else helped me more and I will always be grateful for the immense kindness, generosity and encouragement he gave to a student just starting out on his career. Arthur Bliss Society @TheBlissTrust

What a joy to start the afternoon Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Birmingham City University with a recital by the great Roderick Williams (& Andrew West) who gave us a gorgeous tour of Victorian (et al) orientalism ending with songs by Harry T Burleigh, the composer who introduced Dvorak to African-American music.
