This workflow for field termination is very thoughtful and family centered. ⁦@paemsmd⁩ has a process that is very considerate and impactful. This is how EMS should initiate the bereavement process in the field. #naemsp2022

Scripting in death notifications is very important. Not that they are said word for word, but delivered in a similar manner. Some Dos and Don'ts @paemsmd #NAEMSP2022 #EMS #EMSDoc

Fentanyl IN is recommended over IV opioids in kids. One consideration…be sure the dose in your protocol accounts for the intranasal route. Fentanyl at a dose of 1.5-2 mcg/kg IN is safe & will help overcome the dead space of the MAD device as well as nasal runoff. #naemsp2022

There is an important update to the AHA ECC interim guidelines for BLS and ACLS, specific updates include explicit guidance on HCW PPE use while still stressing early hands on chest. ahajournals.org/doi/epdf/10.11…

I hear ER’s say “the pt is better off w/ the medic watching them than no one”, but my response is “who’s watching the pt waiting on the 911 call for the delayed ambulance to show up?” Put the pt in a chair, hall bed, triage, etc & release the crew! Sincerely, ER/EMS doc
