Our U.S. National Science Foundation integrative biology project with Nick Smith, Susan Kalisz, and Lalasia Bialic-Murphy is hiring a postdoc and graduate student. Investigating how allelopathic invaders disrupt mycorrhizal mutualisms, scaling from molecules to ecosystems. See me at #ESA2022 if you want to chat!

The Gilchrist lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) is recruiting M.S. and Ph.D. level graduate students interested in studying functional molecular evolution and genomics. 1/n

Congrats to Jacob Moutouama for an excellent exit seminar to UTK EEB on the ecological drivers of range limitation in species. His work directly contributed to address the tropical bias in ecology that we always talk about. My lab was lucky to have such a brilliant student for 4 yrs

How do mutualists influence species' range limits? For the first research out of my PhD, we reviewed studies addressing this question. Even though many focus on abiotic and negative biotic interactions as drivers of range limits, mutualists leave an underappreciated footprint.

Enjoyed Jacob Moutouama #ESA2023 talk: plant populations at center of the distribution range are more resilient to perturbation than populations closer to the periphery of the range. Shoutout to UTK EEB family!

Happy to share our new research article in People and Nature with Orou Gaoue! We explain how indigenous people select medicinal plants in West-Africa and suggest new methodological guidance in testing the theory of non- random medicinal plants selection. besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/pa…

How do microbial symbionts affect host responses to environmental variability? Our new publication in Ecology Letters answers this question using amazing long-term data for grasses and their fungal symbionts. -> onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

Excited to share our paper in PNASNews with Aldo Compagnoni and Tom Miller ! Climate change may push dioecious plants toward female-biased sex ratios which will impair seed production. Ignoring this feedback underestimates range shifts. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
