If you're suffering horrible FOMO, I've extended sales to close at end of play Friday so you can still get the recordings even if you've missed some live sessions. It's going well... big old deep dive into Rosenshine. I love it. You will too!

I'm am currently creating a "skills" based curriculum for grades 3-5. Think of it as UFLI for upper elementary. Daily 30-minute lessons consist of explicit instruction of vocab, spelling, morphology, and fluency practice. DM me if interested in piloting next year. I've shared 1/

We should all do what works for students rather than what is politically expedient. Bad policy is bad for learning. The NY math briefs will not be good for students. Sign the petition to retract. sites.google.com/view/retract-n…

Much of my writing on education carries a fundamental implicit premise: We should respect people's time, and most schools have failed at that. Should everyone who is skilled at math go further and further, on and on, climbing higher and higher until they become a research

Multiple strategies in math is pitched as am inclusive scaffold, when really they are just poor design. The teacher doesn’t have to bring kids to mastery on an efficient strategy. They can just model a few different ways to do stuff and then say, “use the method you like best.”

The 15 week study was cited in my book, and people were right to question whether the results of one study would be generalizable to older students. Who cares? Planning time is extremely limited, and it is effective teaching, not decorative displays, that leads to learning.

Oh look, the researchers found that the optimal success rate is 85 percent and discuss how this supports other frameworks like Zone of Proximal Learning and Desirable Difficulty frameworks in education.

I knew that Finland’s education had fallen off its pedestal, but I didn’t realize the extent of its fall from grace.
