BIG-EYE JELLYHEAD On a recent expedition exploring the Pacific Abyssal Plains, our #deepsea research team captured footage of a 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘮𝘢 𝘤𝘧. 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘢 from the deep-sea lander camera at 4800m. This is a rare sighting of a deep-sea cirrrate octopod at this depth.

📢 New species alert! We have been welcomed at the fish facility at Coastal Marine Field Station University of Waikato in New-Zealand ❤ We have discovered that the local wrasse, the very cute spotty, is able to use rocks/pipes to help it break open mussels. 🙏Share your obs with us if you see something similar.
