At #ICPR2024, we just had some amazing talks on the brain and phenomenological effects of extended #DMT by our Lisa Luan and James W. Sanders ! 👽🧠 More insights from this work out soon.

Grateful to my colleague Tommaso Barba for capturing this outline of my ICPR presentation on a phenomenology of acclimation during extended state DMT. It was a dense presentation, so I will happily answer questions on anything that's not clear from this outline

Ever wondered what happens in the brain when someone takes the world’s most powerful psychedelic drug?🧐Me too! So we went and found out. Our new preprint is now live where you can read all about it: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

"Exploring 5-MeO-DMT as a pharmacological model for deconstructed consciousness" - our new paper looking at the subjective and brain effects of 5-MeO-DMT in naturalistic settings has been published in Neuroscience of Consciousness academic.oup.com/nc/article/202…

I'm very excited for this to be published. This paper is just the beginning - we have collected a great deal more data from both naturalistic and lab settings, including a hundred or so micro-phenomenological interviews

Article I wrote for Psyche Magazine about the value of descriptive work to scientifically understand intense and meaningful altered states of consciousness. In my view, Jamesian curiosity and empiricism is better suited to the topic than Jungian enthusiasm or Freudian cynicism.
