Great to meet with ILWU and Grain Workers Union Local 333. We spoke about the vital work they do, and why strong health and safety protections must always come first. Workers’ voices and concerns need to stay front and centre.

Great visit to the Electrical Joint Training Committee with Ron McKinnon & Zoë Royer. Thanks to IBEW & the Building Trades for the warm welcome. Tradespeople keep B.C. moving every day, today we saw that first hand. I even had the chance to put my own skills to the test!

Ironworkers Local 97 continue to lead with safety, strength and expertise. Great to join MP Zoë Royer for a visit with the team to talk about the important work they’re doing here in B.C., the challenges facing their members, and how we can keep supporting skilled trades.

Joined MP Sukh Dhaliwal, MP Gurbux Saini, and Minister McKnight in Surrey to meet with community leaders and discuss the challenges Sikh workers face in the trades—particularly around hard hat requirements and religious accommodations.

Minister Jill McKnight and I met with the Customs and Immigration Union to discuss key issues facing their members across British Columbia. We had a productive conversation about the vital work these employees do and how we can continue to support them.

I’ve been meeting with unions that power our economy & form the backbone of our workforce. It was great to be back home in Etobicoke North to sit down & connect with UFCW Canada - one of the country’s most experienced unions, with a proud history dating back to the 1800s.

Thank you Minister Gregor Robertson, MP John Zerucelli, and Julie Dzerowicz for today’s productive discussion. We know the roadblocks — now it’s on all of us: government, labour, and industry, to work together, remove barriers, and get Canada building the homes we desperately need.
