Behavioural effects of contaminants are almost always tested in social isolation, even though many species live in groups in the wild. Now, our new paper in Environmental Science & Technology Journals shows that the effects of contaminants can be mediated by social context! #fishsci 👉 tinyurl.com/y5nsyaa6

1/2. New paper led by Jake M Martin investigating effects of a common androgenic pollutant on tadpoles. In contrast to other taxa, early life exposure had no effect on tadpole body size, metabolic rate, or behaviour (but did affect condition). sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

2/2. Study was carried out in collaboration with Jack Orford, Gabriela C. Melo, Hung Tan , Rachel Mason 🌿🐕🏳️🌈, Michael Bertram, Shiho Ozeki & Lesley Alton, and is the first to be published from our ARC-funded project on endocrine disrupting pollution & 🐸s. School of Biological Sciences, Monash #BobWongLab

Excited to share my first research publication from my PhD! We found that environmental levels of antidepressant pollution altered life history traits in Daphnia, but higher temperatures reduced these effects. Read it here: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs… Monash University

Today the lab and School of Biological Sciences, Monash is saying farewell to the incomparable Martin_J_M_34. Next week, Jake will be jetting off to start an exciting new position with the wonderful Tomas Brodin in 🇸🇪. Thanks Jake for being a great colleague and for your awesomeness 🎉🏆🥰🦸♂️🐟🐸

Our new review is now out in the latest issue of Trends in Ecology & Evolution! 🥳 We present a conceptual framework for predicting how chemical pollution is likely to impact the emergence, organisation, and function of animal social groups. Read it #OpenAccess 👉 cell.com/trends/ecology…

Unlike fish, growth and behaviour of tadpoles were unaffected by environmental concentrations of a widespread androgenic endocrine disrupting pollutant. New PhD paper by Jack Orford (cosupervised with Lesley Alton & Jake M Martin). #BobWongLab sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

New research on the effect a potent environmental pollutant has on tadpoles. Great work Jake M Martin, Jack Orford and team! Interesting to see no effects on behaviour and growth.. read more below⬇️ sciencedirect.com/science/articl… Monash University RMIT University #EDC #reproductivehealth #scicomm

New paper from my PhD out in Oecologia! We find that the social context mediates the expression of animal personality traits in the delicate skink. Big thanks to Annie Naimo Marcus Michelangeli Jake M Martin Andrew Sih Bob Wong (@bbmwong.bsky.social) & ChappleLab. Check it out here 👉 doi.org/10.1007/s00442…

Our new Nature Communications paper on how invasion altered behavioural types across the delicate skink’s global range is out today! It was great to co-lead this with ChappleLab and Annie Naimo. Big thanks to Marcus Michelangeli Jake M Martin celine goulet @bellbirdsong_NZ Andy Sih & Bob Wong (@bbmwong.bsky.social)!

Bigger & bolder: impacts of a widespread agricultural pollutant on morphology and behaviour of tadpoles in the southern brown treefrog. Latest paper from School of Biological Sciences, Monash PhD student Jack Orford with Hung Tan Reid Tingley Lesley Jake M Martin authors.elsevier.com/c/1h5bR,3oDQuO… #BobWongLab

Congrats to Jack Orford (cosupervised with Lesley Alton and Jake M Martin), the latest member of the School of Biological Sciences, Monash #BobWongLab to be awarded their PhD. Jack investigated multi-stressor effects of chemical pollution and UV on anuran amphibians. Super proud of you Dr Orford 🥳👏

Very happy to be officially conferred as Dr. Orford today! A massive thanks to my supervisors Bob Wong (@bbmwong.bsky.social) Lesley Alton Jake M Martin, as well as the rest of the Wong lab, for all their support. Time to celebrate 🍻🐸🧪 #PhD #Science
