CA Northern Section ⚾️ WAR Leaders Most teams in the NSCIF are still in the very early portion of their schedule. U-Prep's Casey Wrathall leads PV's Scotty McKeown by a fraction of a point for the section lead.

It's been a busy month & I haven't been able to post as many ⚾️ updates as I'd like. Remember, each update is just a "snapshot." There will ALWAYS be some teams I'm behind on until the season ends. Here are current NorCal WAR leaders by section.

It took some time for the CIF Northern Section schedule to ramp up, but the WAR leaderboard is finally starting to take shape. University Prep's Casey Wrathall has held #1 for some time, but he's got some competition moving up the board in Tanner Abbott & Emmett Stacher.

CA Northern Section WAR Leaders Tanner Abbott, Jaxxon Tweedt, Emmett Stacher, Dominic Borges, Jaden Neugebauer, & Cooper Sides among the leaders. Sides & Stacher each finished north of 6 WAR last year.

The top 💯 high school players in NorCal, as ranked by combined WAR. WAR includes hitting, baserunning, fielding, & pitching. It adjusts for team SOS & player class, and multiplies by games played. Two-way players tend to stand out here. Again, SEVERAL highly-coveted ⚾️ players.

NorCal High School ⚾️ WAR Leaders | Top 💯 Updates are always ongoing. I should have end of season stats for several more teams by the end of next week. Landyn Plaut is approaching 10 WAR, but also a huge section semifinal game vs Woodland tomorrow.

Perfect Game has a nice 10-point player rating system, where 5 is an average varsity player, 7 is a college prospect, 8 is a possible draft pick, & so on. That's based on scouting. I took my best stab at converting my BaGS/DIGS ratings to a 10-pt scale to compare. Here's c/o '25

Of all the NorCal regional brackets, D2 might be my favorite. Yuba City Honker Baseball lands the #1 seed, while 28-1 Chico hosts AcalanesDonsBaseball. Casa Grande has the Mercado/Laubscher dynamic duo. Incredible pitching in this grouping!

Congrats Jaden Neugebauer on a great 4-year varsity career! Major contributor each season, and helped Chico to back-to-back section championships (28-2 this season). Steady, well above average performer each year. Excited to see where your ⚾️ journey takes you next!

My NorCal prep leaderboards go back to 2022, which allows me to track the c/o 2025 through all 4 seasons of varsity baseball. Here's my best attempt at a career WAR ranking for the graduating class. 29 players earned 10+ WAR; 5 earned 15+; One earned 20+ (Quinten Marsh)
