One year ago today December 14th, 2023 my home was raided by law enforcement at 4:00 am. I was supposed to enjoy the last two days before winter break with my students. Instead, I was held captive at the High Desert Detention Center without bail.

Life has changed so much since this event, including the temporary loss of my career, the complete silencing of my artistic expression, and leaving me scrambling trying to put the pieces back together.

Today is the anniversary of this injustice, many reflections have came to mind. I’m thankful that I get to walk earth side by my partner Jasmine, my parents, and all of you that have supported me time after time.

Gratitude for keeping me & my family afloat during those times where there was an absence of light.
