Very proud of the work by Mytraya Gattu demonstrating that formulating the composite-fermion theory of the fractional quantum Hall (FQH) effect in terms of quaternions opens the door into many interesting issues that were previously not amenable to quantitative theoretical

Neat paper by graduate student Aamir Makki on what photoluminescence can tell us about fractional quantum Hall effect, and about excitons and trions. Puzzles remain. arxiv.org/abs/2505.01577

One won the Nobel Prize and the other two the Wolf Prize. What are the odds!! It's hard to get to your Science Education Center, but I always love going there and meeting the young and curious students.

Today, I complete 15 years as a faculty member at #IISERPune. I have attempted to put together a list (based on my blogs) of some lessons that I have learnt so far. A disclaimer to note is that this list is by no means a comprehensive one, but a text of self-reflection from my

Can't wait to be in Jerusalem with my wife for the Wolf Prize ceremony, and at the Weizmann Institute for a symposium! It will be our first visit there. Then onward to India! Look forward to seeing family and friends.

Tomorrow we leave for India! In may, waiting to board the plane to India, I was advised to cancel because of the situation with the neighbor. Then my plan to go to Jerusalem on to India was canceled due to the war in the Middle East. Hope the third time is the charm.

"Superconducting," metallic, and crystalline states of composite fermions are all competitive at 1/6 filling in wide quantum wells, where evidence for FQHE has been seen in journals.aps.org/prl/abstract/1…. Among the many possible "superconducting" states, the f-wave paired state is
