“These viruses need time to adapt to a human host. When they’re first trying us out they don’t know what they’re doing & they tend to elicit these responses.” —Yale School of Medicine's Akiko Iwasaki in The Atlantic 'Why the Coronavirus Has Been So Successful' bit.ly/2UxBN6i #COVID19

Please check out our preprint on bioRxiv! Jake Carrasquillo Tevis Vitale

How do cells establish nuclear transport after open mitosis? Where can I see awesome videos of C. elegans embryos? Look no further than my work from Bahmanyar lab looking at the role of NDC1 in nuclear pore complex (NPC) assembly! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

We're excited to share our paper showing that regulating ER membrane biogenesis in interphase is necessary for mitotic fidelity. Fantastic team work by Holly Merta & Jake Carrasquillo and thanks to all co-authors including lab alum Tevis Vitale and collaborators...

I am so proud and happy to share my 1st first-author paper looking at the role of Ndc1 in nuclear pore complex assembly and nuclear growth from my time in the Bahmanyar lab! Thanks to the many co-authors and others who helped make this all possible. The work is out now at eLife - the journal

Incredibly honored to be recognized by American Society for Cell Biology #WICB!! 🎉🥳 #WomenInSTEM

So happy to be at #cellbio2022 American Society for Cell Biology in person! Check out our talks and posters - 3 are today!!

.@LeeShoken Jake Carrasquillo Holly Merta & Bahmanyar lab report that the nuclear envelope adapts to changes in #lipid #metabolism - direct sensing of the local membrane environment by an amphipathic helix in Sun2 contributes to its retention and stability. bit.ly/3prXZT8

Congratulations to the new Dr. Jake Carrasquillo! It was an amazing thesis defense and it was a privilege to attend. Congrats to Bahmanyar lab for another outstanding scientist!

Thank you to Nature Cell Biology Melina Casadio for featuring Bahmanyar lab's work as well as Shirin's research journey and thoughts about studying the lipids and dynamics of the nuclear envelope and ER! nature.com/articles/s4155…

Check out our collaborative work 👇 with Michael Airola with accompanying paper in pnas.org/doi/full/10.10… using structural insights to define mechanistically how the master regulator of membrane synthesis at the ER (CTDNEP1/NEP1R1) is itself regulated!

Check out this beautiful work by my former lab mate Jake Carrasquillo in the @BahmanyarLab 👏 Includes many cool findings on how CTDNEP1 and binding partner NEP1R1 regulate lipid synthesis at the ER and nuclear envelope! ✨👇
