I’m a little weary after 40+ years in the NHS. What’s keeping me going -the people creating new and truly innovative services in the #completecarecommunities programme and colleagues working in the #digitalclinicalexcellence (DiCE) Forum. Working with inspirational people. A joy.

Reflecting this morning, my wife Sarah commented that she’s now been working in the NHS for 46 uninterrupted years…. and still going - all in patient facing service. I wonder how many clinicians can say this and how does the NHS celebrate this rare loyalty?

With the #completecarecommunities PMO team yesterday for a reflection on the past year’s activities and planning for the next. Biggest issue for the NHS to address, if it is going to part of the solution for reducing health inequalities is …. Allocative value.

Being inefficient and wasteful is modus operandi NHS England since clinical thinking has latterly been marginalised in NHS design. But sheer extent of this realised today when 111, local hospital switchboard and WIC had no ability to help , even if solution was provided for them

Out of hours constitutes around 75% of NHS operating time per week. Possibly creates 75% of the problems that NHS England policy tries to resolve. There is another way - and it’s not trying harder at what has already failed. Hope the 10 year plan gains the insight to help solve.
