🚨 NEW: The Government has announced that from the 2026 school year, all children in families on Universal Credit will get free school meals It will cover schools, colleges, and school-based nurseries, benefit 500,000 children, and lift 100,000 "completely out of poverty"

Great to see! 👏🏻 Islington Labour 🌹 #OnYourSide was one of the first areas to give Free School Meals to pupils back in 2010. Then in 2023, London followed suit thanks to Sadiq Khan. Now nationally families who receive Universal Credit across the land will benefit from 2026. #OnYourSide

Today we are expanding Winter Fuel Payments to benefit nine million pensioners this winter. It is right that we continue to means-test this payment so that it is targeted and fair. That's why we have acted to expand eligibility so no pensioner on a lower income will miss out.

Junction ward councillors Cllr James Potts, Janet Burgess and I, have written to the Building Safety Regulator to complain about the length of time Archway Heights has been left covered in scaffolding because of delays to their decision making processes.
