Tariffs slow economic growth - they don't accelerate it. And I don't understand how the budget bill will accelerate economic growth, given that it's not meaningfully cutting tax rates, but rather keeping them where they currently are.

At least Trump's acknowledging that tariffs do get passed along to US consumers (though he's still saying "countries" pay tariffs, when only companies do). I guess this is progress.

Are you going to do better than 4% unemployment with inflation below 3% and the economy growing 2.8% in real terms? Because that's the economy Trump was given.

I know Republicans love cutting taxes more than anything, but given that we're near full employment and the economy is still chugging along, what's the actual argument against letting the 2017 tax cuts expire, at least for high earners?

Set aside the corruption angle. This tells you that Duffy and Bondi (correctly) understood that Trump's tariffs are bad for American companies.

Private universities should not be obliged by the govt to discriminate against foreign students. Public universities, because they were designed to educate a state's students, generally do already discriminate against students from out of state, which seems fine.

It would have been funny if Trump said this, but he didn't. Instead he said "... or spread democracy at the point of a gun." He was saying, as you'd expect, that the military shouldn't be used to spread democracy, but only to achieve realpolitik goals.

What makes this woman "liberal"? There's nothing in this clip that says anything about her politics. And being pissed off at having a job and not being able to support your family is hardly a "liberal" position.
