On Wednesday I spoke in a debate on how the Government can better support businesses in rural areas. Schemes like the Highlands and Islands Development Board made a world of difference to businesses in the Far North and it is imperative that it is funded properly.

Yesterday, I voted against the proposed changes to welfare payments. As a carer myself, I know that vulnerable people need to be included in these discussions in order to better consider their needs, before any cuts are made.

Our visitor economy is invaluable to Highland communities - and hospitality venues are at the heart of this. However, the instability associated with seasonality, housing and staffing shortages is putting them at risk. I'd like to see government action before its too late.

I am a convinced devolutionist. However, we need more transparency around how the Scottish Government spends its grant from the UK Government. Last year, the SNP got given the largest devolution settlement in history and I want the Highlands to see our fair share of it!

A year ago, I had the honour of being re-elected. When I was first elected in 2017, I was aware of the escalating issue of high street bank closures and called for the creation of Highland banking hubs. Today it was an honour to open the new hub in Wick. Hard work pays off!

It was good to update on all that was happening on-site at NRS Dounreay. It is the most important employer in the north of Scotland by a mile. I am very grateful to both the management and the unions for giving their time to keep me thoroughly well informed.
