I’ll be writing about Villa goalkeepers in the programme in the coming season … including Jimmy of course. Right up there with the best in our history.

Anyone who can win 2 European Cup Winners medals by only playing 9 minutes in the process is a legend 🏅 🏅 😆 Seriously though: brilliant keeper ❤️

40 years ago today England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 in the 4th Test of the '85 Ashes ⚱️ had bowled out Australia 🇦🇺 for 257 at the end of Day 1 🏏 61 for DC Boon and 4 wickets each for Botham and PH Edmonds 👍 Remember the days when SLA bowlers flighted and turned it? ❤️ youtu.be/A5Z8pL018mY?si…

Jamie Magill Richard Whitehead Len Hutton was born in 1916 so this picture was taken in 1924. Walter Hammond was born in 1903 and started his FC career in 1920. I doubt if Wally was on holiday in Blackpool in 1924. That was only his 2nd season for Gloucestershire as he was made to serve a 3yr qualification.

It was a touch of irony... I was referring to 1938 at the Oval: Hutton dog tired ready to throw it away until he regarded the balcony and the baleful figure of WR Hammond silently imploring him to stick at it; or else....

Bluff and counter bluff with Crawley and Siraj just then 🏏 Reminded me of the last ball of Day 4 of the 1st Test in the 1993 Ashes at Old Trafford when Mike Gatting expecting a short one from Merv Hughes instead received an inswinging yorker which duly bowled him ⚱️ ❤️
