Great story on the incredible, enormous, magnificent & hard-to-even-understand long-distance #migration of shorebirds, centred around Hudsonian #Godwits and other folks of Global Flyway Network, especially @NRSenner! Thanks Jim Robbins for your special report! smithsonianmag.com/science/hudson…
“I’m done with COVID” is code for “I’m pretty sure I’ll be ok if I get infected, and what happens to other people is of no concern to me.” Other than being selfish and privileged, it‘s shortsighted - more cases = strains on healthcare & other systems, risk of new variants, etc.
Red knots and a dunlin at the Salton Sea, California. Though not actually a sea, drought and agricultural water use have turned this into an extremely salty and toxic lake. Less and less shorebirds can make a living here. Little is done to improve the situation. Global Flyway Network
High inflation is due a small handful of items. This is especially true in Alberta. Political rhetoric misses this, and so much more. My latest for Calgary Herald here: calgaryherald.com/opinion/column… #cdnecon #ableg
