158 Mountains in 158 Days, my friend Lewi (not on Twitter) is halfway through his insane trip to raise $158,000 for the Cancer Council. If you want to see what it's like to push your body and mind to the limit, and maybe donate: 158challenge.com and instagram.com/tassie.taylor/

In response to our ABC Hobart interview Lisa Craw and I met with University of Tasmania today. I made this graph which validated why it feels so much tighter now than when I started in 2018. The base stipend is now $3260/yr below the poverty line and $743/yr less than CPI increase. 1/n

First written 4 years ago, first submitted 3 years ago, then rewritten content 2 times almost entirely to suit 3 journals that rejected it, then substantially shortened to suit a different format again, my manuscript finally got accepted... It's almost like: What now?

How useful are predictions if we don’t know how reliable they are? Yet: 96% of papers don’t show any uncertainty map alongside their predicted biodiversity map! This needs to change! Our new correspondence in NatureEcoEvo: nature.com/articles/s4155… A few key points below👇(1/7)

There's been a lot of attention on biodiversity maps recently, most recently on the importance of mapping uncertainty in the Jan Jansen article: doi.org/10.1038/s41559… I'd like to share pros and cons for some ways we've mapped uncertainty 🧵

A Rosella couple inspected our recently built accommodation for the first time this morning! A second pair came along as well but were chased away by the first one. Maybe need to build a second box for next year... Does anyone know how close Rosellas can breed from each other?

In a new Journal of Applied Ecology paper, we map rabbit densities for conservation management. First counted rabbit warrens along transects, then made predictive maps which excelled when tested against independent data (predicted 7937 holes, observed 8009)! besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/13…
