HM King Letsie III and HM Queen Masenate Mohato Seeiso of the Kingdom of Lesotho paid a visit to Osaka and Tokyo, Japan from 29 June to 4 July to participate in the Expo 2025 National Day Event. I had the honour of accompanying them. It was successful in strengthening 🇯🇵🇱🇸 ties.

We hosted the Japan Self-Defense Forces Day reception, marking its 71st anniversary. I insisted on the expanded role of defense forces in disaster response and maintaining regional and global peace and stability. Thanks to all who joined—hope you enjoyed the Japanese food&drinks!

Visited Durban Child and Youth Care Centre, which protects children in need from 2-18 years. 🇯🇵 supported its facility restoration. Pay respect for the dedication of Director Ms Grobler and her team. Wishing the care be made for those graduates who become 19 years old.

Indulged in delicious Durban cuisine, the Bunny Chow! Hot indeed but the taste was super.

We found in Durban Botanic Gardens, a lantern which was presented to Durban City by the Japanese Government in 1932 in appreciation of courtesies extended to Japanese emigrants. What a long standing friendly relationship between Japan and South Africa!

Visited HESTO Harness in KwaDukuza KZN, which 🇯🇵Yazaki Corporation has a significant investment and creates jobs for around 8,000 people. This company produces essential car parts for Toyota, Isuzu, and other 🚙 Viva the spirit of Yazaki, 新(Always renew! Trust! Safety first!)!

G20 Finance Ministers & Central Bank Governors Meeting held in Zimbali, KZN, ended yesterday. It was significant that world leaders, including Japanese Minister of Finane, Mr. KATO Katsunobu, gathered at the time of uncertainty and complex challenges, and issued Communique.

We enjoyed Japanese food, sea food, sashimi, tempura, ramen, udon…in a Japanese restaurant named Daruma, in Umhlanga, KZN, together with beautiful scenary of Indian Ocean and sea breeze!

Today, I joined the official launch of the UNU Hub on Resilient Environment, Agriculture, Climate and Health for Africa (REACH-AFRICA), hosted at the University of Pretoria. The 1st in the Global South. I'm certain this initiative will find solutions to multifaceted crises.

I had the pleasure to see delegation from uMgungundlovu District, KZN, headed by Mayor Zuma. I was touched by his will to lead economic development of this district to tackle challenges of unemployment, poverty, income disparity. We will do our cooperation for mutual benefit.

I paid a virtual courtesy call to Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Blade Nzimande Prof Blade Nzimande. We discussed boosting cooperation in science, technology and innovation, reconfirming the significance of hydrogen and ammonium collaboration.
