#ItsNotOk Statistics from The Home Office show that most victims are assaulted by someone they know such as a family member, friend or colleague. The truth is that we are not all properly educated on consent, laws and healthy relationships. This can create abusers.

#ItsNotOk Victim blaming is when someone says, implies or treats a victim/survivor like the abuse was a result of something they did or said.🫵🏼 It is important to understand and remember that sexual violence is never the fault of the person who experiences it.💚

Our hearts go out to Sarah Everard, her family and friends and all survivors of sexual violence and abuse today. We despair at the inadequate vetting procedures, repeatedly missed red flags, and inaction that contributed to this horrendous misuse of power. 1/4

Grooming is when an abuser builds a false relationship with a child or young person in order to gain power or control over them. They do this so that they can carry out another form of sexual abuse.👧🏻 Here are some of the tactics that they may use to develop a relationship.

Last Friday we held our first partnership event with Freeva Leicester Quetzal @firststepleics to talk about Building resilience in the workplace Dr Michelle Seabrook provided an enlightening keynote speech and we had workshops from Becky Nixon | Ideas to Impact and Yoga from Kajal Patel

When we talk about ‘rape culture’, we’re talking about a society where sexual violence is normalised, played down and/or laughed off.💭 It is also where females are seen as ‘less than’ males.👱🏽‍♀️ It is also a culture where some people are making money or benefitting from this.

Here's your reminder that you are not everything that happens to you - including your trauma. You are so much more.💚
