My favorite microscopy method, expansion microscopy (ExM), can now give more accurate images on nanoscopic structures (e.g. viruses) by using a newly designed, highly homogenous hydrogel: nature.com/articles/s4156… Thanks to all of my excellent teammates on this fun project!

Labs worldwide began using expansion microscopy soon after Ed Boyden’s lab introduced it in 2015. Now, using ordinary light microscopy, the team has devised a technique whose accuracy should enable imaging of viruses or even single biomolecules. mitsha.re/UIhk50Ecfwx
