Nottingham Stanza met today to discuss 'An Arbitrary Light Bulb' by Ian Duhig FRSL. These poems need a bit of work from the reader - but the general consensus was they're definitely worth the effort.

The Japanese ambassador to the UK wishes everyone a happy St David’s Day with a Welsh cake and daffodil origami. Protect this man at all costs.

The longer I work in psychiatry, the more & more I'm reminded that poverty is one of the most harmful factors (if not the most harmful factor) affecting peoples' mental health.

Nottingham Stanza met today to read and talk about the poetry of Benjamin Zephaniah. We also watched some videos of him performing his poetry. A good meeting.

The description of care workers as low skilled is hugely offensive. Not all skills can be taught. The ability to care for vulnerable people with compassion and in a way that protects their dignity is one that should be prized and rewarded to a much greater extent than it is.

The richest 1% own 24% of the UK's wealth. All the immigrants who arrived in the last ten years together own under 1% of the UK's wealth. It is the billionaires who are making you poor, not immigrants. Don't be played for a fool.

These are just 33 of the doctors who died trying to save patients during Covid, Keir Starmer. All but two were migrants, or the children of them. They didn’t take time off work and stay out of danger. They gave their lives for us. WERE THEY STRANGERS?

My doctoral research is about voice and silence in women's poetry and it's made me notice how often women's voices are silenced, spoken over, ignored and mocked. It would be interesting to know how often women MPs feel this is an issue in HoC.

I'm reposting this because I understand it and that makes me feel a bit less like an imposter. Also it's funny - and I like Stallings work.

The Reverend Sue Parfitt, an 83-year-old retired Anglican priest from Bristol, was among 20 people arrested in London today "on suspicion" of supporting Palestine Action. Am I allowed to say she's a hero, or is that banned too? She's a hero. Please share if you agree.
