People… I know that we have a shit ton of Great-tailed Grackles (Quiscalus mexicanus) here. My post is about Purple Martins (Progne subis). A species of migratory swallow that passes through town. I understand the confusion so I’ll leave this here to help any future comments.

I just saw an incidental ebird report for 1 species so I got curious. It gotta be like a rare or uncommon flyover or something right? 1 Rock Pigeon And the comment said “dead in the side of the road” Is this what we’re doing now?

Belted Kingfisher fun fact that I just learned. So I’m sharing. BEKI’s have syndactyl feet, meaning two of their toes are partially fused together! These unique feet are mainly used for perching and digging nesting burrows. 📸 : Black Swamp Bird Observatory

That Bird Guy! Not only that, among the 23 species in the genus Ceyx, the 4th toe is either vestigial or gone. Some of these dudes going around with 3 toes! And not only _that_, but the fusion differs among kingfishers: In Belted (above it's 3&4 fused, not 2&3!)
