Yup. That's a nice way to put it, Ted. The new mechanism we uncovered here (involving telomeres and spinal cord cellular senescence) doesn't even start until 4 months post-injury, LONG after virtually every preclinical pain research study ever conducted had ended.

In case you missed it, our 7-years-in-the-making opus came out Friday in Journal of Clinical Investigation. In addition to suggesting a new class of treatment for #ChronicPain, it makes the case that preclinical studies should last MUCH longer... jci.org/articles/view/…

The last chapter of my thesis from the lab of Jeffrey Mogil is finally out today in Science Advances! Check it out- the finding is a very important thing to consider when doing behavioral experiments. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

Finally out in PAIN Journal. For the first time, we (and by we I mean Magali Millecamps) tested mice with spared nerve injury throughout their entire life. Average chronic pain levels influence lifespan in male but not female mice! journals.lww.com/pain/Abstract/…

Our new sex differences in pain review is out: doi.org/10.1016/j.neub… It features a pathway analysis-driven summary of the existing literature, and a new hypothesis. Getting it published was tough, as it is neither a pure narrative review nor a formal meta-analysis. Thoughts?
