I've been talking to some amazingly impressive doctors recently - and this one is quite exceptional. Thanks very much to David Nott Foundation clinical director Ammar Darwish for talking to me about his dual life (and making me wonder what I've done with mine...)

Looking to speak to #nurses who have worked abroad (ideally recently) and come back to the NHS/UK for a feature I'm writing for Nursing Standard. DMs temporarily open 🙂

Still hoping to speak to at least one nurse who has worked abroad and come back to the UK for a feature for Nursing Standard, ideally by the end of the week. Please get in touch.

Dani has been working on this topic for many years and I know how much it has affected her. Pleased to see it get a wider audience in London Review of Books. Recommended, obvs.

‘I work in a trauma centre in Manchester. You might face a mass casualty two or three times a year. In Gaza, you see it every day, with very limited resources.’ Our Faculty Global Lead, Ammar Darwish in The Doctor Magazine.

I found writing my share of this article really quite difficult and emotional - and I didn't go through what these doctors did. Thanks to Amy Small and Rosie Baruah for talking to me about where we are now.

It takes a special set of skills and knowledge to be a doctor in the UK’s rural and remote regions – and this is recognised by a new accreditation. In this piece, Jennifer Trueland speaks to the pioneers of the rural and remote health credential in unscheduled and urgent care: [1/5]

I'm often struck by shiny adverts saying ooh, come and work in x rural area to swim in the sea and climb literal mountains - when actually, that's not what it's about. Maybe if it becomes a specialty, rural and remote medicine will get the kudos - and doctors - it needs.

Was in there just this morning and picked up three books (one of which I’ve already finished - v long journey). It’s a fantastic treasure trove and we’re so lucky to have it.

Writing a piece for Nursing Standard and looking to speak to a #nurse who has 'soldiered on' at work despite being sick. Can be anonymous. DMs will be open in a minute.

Not surprised by this response from GPs - it's almost as if the Northern Ireland health department doesn't actually *want* general practice, or, indeed, a health service BMANI-GP BMA Northern Ireland
