What wasn't shared today during the safe sport announcement is that the "independent mechanism" is not mandatory - therefore NSOs currently decide the level of athlete protection. We're asking Steven Guilbeault to lead by making this mechanism implemented by CRDSC-SDRCC MANDATORY.

The "independent mechanism" is not mandatory & the one code can have up to approx 60 interpretations where NSOs decide appropriate sport specific behaviors. This limits the ability for athletes to understand their rights and to take action. @daphnegilbert@s_guilbeault
