Today, UN Women with Ministry of Gender & Family Promotion | Rwanda, RMC & Rwanda Youth Council convened diverse media personnel & youth actors from across sectors for a week-long workshop to co-create impactful approaches to shift social norms towards equality in #CareWork & #ZeroTolerance for #GBV in #Rwanda.


It was my pleasure to motivate members of the UN Rwanda coordination mechanisms on the integration of Gender, Rights & Inclusivity-based approaches. As core United Nations principles, I called them to be more analytical, synergized & collaborative for sustainable impact & accountability.


UNW Rep Jennet Kem met with Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Rwanda to strengthen partnership for advancing women’s financial inclusion. From financial literacy to full rollout of the #WEFinanceCode, both pledged joint action for a gender-responsive, inclusive system.


Thank you Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva for the great discussions. Shaping gender responsive financial systems will be key to transforming #Rwanda`s envisioned progress to a lived reality. We look forward to co-creating impactful solutions to advance women’s financial inclusion & empowerment.

Today, Ozonnia Ojielo, Jennet Kem, and Khamati Mugalla met Hon C. Nkulikiyinka to fast-track the Global Accelerator on Jobs & Social Protection. A strong call was made to shift from policy to bold action, contributing to the goal of creating 1.25M decent jobs/yr. 🇷🇼 leads as a pathfinder.

Dr Sabin Nsanzimana, WHO Rwanda Rep Dr Dr Brian Chirombo presented how World Health Organization (WHO) helped coordinate partners to contribute to a timely model response, delivering the lowest #CFR of MVD outbreak @ 22.7%. 👉shorturl.at/6IUZ4



Today, UN Women in partnership with Ministry of Education | Rwanda, Ministry of ICT and Innovation | Rwanda & Ministry of Gender & Family Promotion | Rwanda, launched Phase3 of African Girls Can Code Initiative, bringing together 120 girls from across Rwanda to learn coding, robotics &digital skills. Huge thanks to Bundesentwicklungsministerium, I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc. & Digital Transformation Center Rwanda for making this possible!


“There are no limits to what you can achieve & for the next two weeks, we're supporting you,” said Mr. Yves Iradukunda, PS Ministry of ICT and Innovation | Rwanda, at the African Girls Can Code Initiative bootcamp. The programme aligns with national efforts to scale and ensure no girl is left behind in the digital future.



Inspiring the girls, Mr Benjamin Benjamin Mutimura, encouraged them to embrace discipline & delayed gratification on their journey.
