2. This thread is aimed squarely at my mum’s travel insurer, AXA, and their failure to take account of my mum’s best interests when considering repatriating her home to the UK. @axa AXA Insurance UK @AxaUK

5. This already hellish situation has been made immeasurably worse by the approach taken by AXA, including refusing to take account of medical advice from neurologists that it is not in Jane’s best interests to fly at this stage of her injury.

A follow up to Jenny Kitzinger ā€˜s previous blog about the Court of Protection hearing in this case. She concludes by saying ā€˜perhaps, given the clinical realities, doctors should simply have said that life- sustaining treatment was no longer an available option.’ #NotSecretCourt

My new blog: ā€˜families are not inevitably the best people to advocate for a patient. But sometimes families are exactly the right people to promote ā€˜P’s voice’ – and that is the strong sense I got with this family.ā€ But the judge made a different decision

Thinking a lot about family today as I walk out the back door of my family home for last time. My parents, now both dead, loved this house & lived here for over half a century. So many memories in each room & the fabric of the building. This afternoon the new owners move in.

The Sunday Times refer to a man with MND as ā€œwheelchair boundā€ and then report he was so ashamed to use one when he became disabled that he fractured his skull trying to walk. Do they see how these two things might be linked? Media depictions of disability matter.

Interesting to read Mail’s account of this tragic case. Family believe this unconscious woman blinks on request. This was disputed in court by nurses/drs caring for her & ā€˜second opinion’ experts. Why assert as fact & not report diverse sources? dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…
