Our new report, the latest in a year-long series, shows how a digital divide is holding back the life chances of millions of children in the UK, and puts forward proposals on how to enable them to navigate digital content critically and responsibly.

The report provides an evidence-based plan to tackle key challenges. Suggested proposals include establishing a Minimum Digital Living Standards framework, enhancing digital inclusivity in schools, and creating a national Digital Creativity “Skills Commons”.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, one in five children lacked access to a suitable device for home study. Investing in subsidised digital access will help to address the inequality of access to broadband and devices, which especially affect deprived areas of the UK.
