This new textbook by Anastasios Nikolas Angelopoulos Rina Barber and Stephen Bates looks really neat! arxiv.org/abs/2411.11824

🔥5 days left to submit to CPAL 🔥 Submit your best work at the intersection of parsimony and modern ML, and come join us at Stanford in March! More details: cpal.cc Conference on Parsimony and Learning (CPAL) VITA Group Qing Qu Yi Ma

📣📣 CPAL submission deadline extended by popular demand! New deadline is December 2nd AoE! Yi Ma VITA Group Qing Qu Stanford Data Science

📢We all want to explain ML models, but what should these explanations convey, and how does one report these precisely and rigorously? NeurIPS Conference: come check Jacopo Teneggi's work on Testing for Explanations via betting this afternoon! I *bet* you'll like it :)

Nice write-up by JHU Computer Science about Jacopo Teneggi's work. I bet this will be easier to read :) Puch-line: interpretability of opaque ML models can be posed as hypothesis tests, for which online (efficient) testing procedures can be derived!

And on #WomenInScience 's day, Zhenzhen's huge paper on biomaker discovery for breast cancer has just appeared in Patterns, a Cell Press journal 🎉 Zhenhzen's work shows how to construct fully interpretable biomarkers employing bi-level graph learning. Check it out here! minds.jhu.edu/events/calenda…

Best part of coming to the west coast is the two breakfast in one day Conference on Parsimony and Learning (CPAL)
