#malerweg Day 1. Pirna to Stadt Wehlen, super weather and nice walking. Reflections: snacks are essential, and German beer is utterly, utterly fantastic.

#malerweg day 2. Bad Schandau to Polentzal via the Bastei Bridge in glorious sunshine. Snacks remained a problem but the beer remained excellent. I’ll take those conditions. Sarah Warner appears to agree.

#malerweg day 3. Polenztal to Altendorf. The weather has held, the scenery remains amazing and the beer even better. Big day tomorrow walking wise, better be in bed by 830pm (again).

#malerweg day 4. Altendorf to Neumannühle. Ridiculously beautiful stretch of the national park in glorious weather. 18km of steps, ladders and scrambles. #whatamigonnadoaboutmylegs

2 lads brawling on the Tyne and Wear Metro at Benton - Palmersville. Broke up by passengers after a prolonged stop, with one staying on the metro. Train pulls in at Northumberland park, his mates get on, and 4 security stand there chatting as the train pulls away. Sterling work all round.

Day 1 on the #lycianway with Sarah Warner. Tekirova to Çirali. The weather turned against us after a few hours but we continued undeterred and soggy to a warm welcome at our accommodation at Gaia Pension.

Day 2 on the #lycianway. Çirali to Adrasan. Nice visit to Olympos ruins, nice walk through the forrest over Musa Ďagi with a challenging descent into Adrasan. Weather definitely on-side today!
