It's the dilemma that won't go away - data centres eating up so much power there may be nothing left for new homes. But while the Government tries to assure it's all in hand, remarks by the sec gen of the Department of Energy suggest otherwise m.independent.ie/irish-news/pow…

Slido questions are being vetted to control the narrative within the Agriculture & Climate Conference. My question in limbo -The expansion of the dairy herd is the key driver of GHG emissions & water quality declines. Should we consider a targeted reduction in dairy cow numbers?

Marie Donnelly throws an apple into the #AgriClimate2025 conf saying ā€˜it’s all beef and dairy, beef and dairy. Do we even grow an apple in this country?’ To applause. In my opinion it’s v disappointing to see no discussion on tillage/arable w/in today’s discussions on CC in ag.

Paris could see temperatures of 45°C next week, taking into account the heat island effect, with tropical nights also. Europe and the Mediterranean are experiencing the fastest warming in recorded human history. Hard not to ask: what will 2035 look like at this rate?

Excellent piece by Ella McSweeney on CountryWide on dero/habs dir. weird to hear appropriate assessment being talked on radio. For 10 yrs I’ve been reviewing them for plans/projects. Depressing that farmers are in this situation now because of šŸ‡®šŸ‡Ŗbeing an envtl laggard 4 yrs.

Eyebrow raise at the question aside - of course Govt should consider the consequences of its policies, that's exactly why we're in Ctte - and the unsurprising finding that many agree, it's great to see only 10% opposed. The US Republican view is a firm minority in Ireland. 1/🧵
