#OTD in 1945, Home Secretary Herbert Morrison made an official visit to #JerseyCI. He said “I find a people steadfast in their loyalty" - a view challenged in letters published in @JEPNews. The story is shared in #LifeAfterLiberation a new #JerseyMuseum exhibition. Benest & Syvret

Over 450 schoolchildren came to #JerseyArchive to take part in #Occupation-themed workshops that we held in partnership with ArtHouse Jersey to mark #Lib80. Students held artefacts and learnt Occupation stories before being invited to creatively respond to them.

A lovely selection of artworks from our #Collection is on display for visitors to enjoy in a new #Exhibition at #JerseyMuseum. 'Seeing the Light' looks at how artists have responded to #Light as a subject, a mood and as a tool to market #JerseyCI. Open daily. Entry is FREE.

Over 200 people discovered more about #JerseyCI’s Occupation and Liberation stories during a special two-day #Lib80 event held at #JerseyArchive. The talks, tours and handling sessions were all FREE and helped to share the history of this momentous time in the Island’s #History.

To mark Lib80, we’ve launched a major #Digitisation project to add the personal voices of those who lived through the #Occupation to our online catalogue, including Red Cross messages, family scrapbooks, diaries, artwork and more. Supported by our Patrons & Benefactors Fund

Why was #JerseyCI’s Bailiff, Alexander Coutanche, listening to a secret crystal radio set 3 wks after #Liberation? He was re-enacting scenes for a Ministry of Info ‘story-documentary’ about the #Occupation, on show in our new FREE #LifeAfterLiberation exhibition at #JerseyMuseum.

We're taking the #Occupation Tapestry back into the #Community in the form of a large canvas and colouring sheets as part of our special 'Colour our Collection' project to mark #Lib80. Workshops take place in parish halls over the next few weeks and are open to all. #Outreach

We have an incredible team of over 200 wonderful #Volunteers, who make an enormous contribution to our #Charity and its work to protect and preserve #JerseyCI's heritage. A big #ThankYou to all of them ahead of #NationalVolunteersWeek, which starts tomorrow.

We've begun a long-term project to digitise the historic courtroom depositions in our care. Held at #JerseyArchive, the records are from 1864 onwards and cover cases ranging from theft and slander to bigamy and murder, helping us to understand societal change in #JerseyCI.

#OTD 85 yrs ago, Islanders responded to a telegram to the Lt Gov from the Admiralty asking that “Jersey send all available craft to #StMalo to help the evacuation of British troops”. Pictured is the telegram thanking St Helier Yacht Club for their invaluable help. #WWII #OurIslandStory
