Honored to have worked with the NIH Clinical Center cardiology service, seeing some of the most memorable patients under great mentorship! #cardiology UA College of Medicine – Tucson
Enjoyed presenting my work from the NIH Clinical Center at ACP Arizona Chapter! #cardiology
Two papers in nature describe the structure and conformation of myosin in the cardiac thick filaments and how it interacts with other proteins, such as titin and cMyBP-C, in mammalian hearts ($): doi.org/10.1038/s41569… Davide Tamborrini, @intein, Raúl Padrón #ResearchHighlight
Excited to share results from our collab with the Gregorio lab to understand neonatal dilated cardiomyopathy (Lmod2) through integration of mouse models, iPSCs, CRISPR gene editing, EHTs, calcium imaging, and transcriptomics Jessika Iwanski, MD PhD npj Journals rdcu.be/dT5TE
This project has been 5+ years in the making! I’m excited to finally share our work and I hope this research may lead to further advances in our understanding of genetic mutations leading to neonatal DCM🫀 npj Journals Jared Churko rdcu.be/dT3IL
💓 Using patient-specific hiPSC-derived #cardiomyocytes and a mouse model, Dr. Jessika Iwanski, MD PhD and scientists at University of Arizona discovered dysregulated actin-thin filament lengths and alterations in the serum response factor-dependent 🚦 signaling pathway. 🔗 go.nature.com/3XqUaup
We were awarded an institutional AHA award to train the next generation of undergraduates in Cardiovascular Drug Discovery. Undergrads, reach out to one of our mentors (Sakthivel Sadayappan, PhD, MBA Jared Churko Shanna Hamilton Samantha Harris Colson lab Granzier lab) to apply. Jon Pagtakhan
I still see manuscripts using expensive and unnecessary components to generate iPSC derived cardiomyocytes. Save research $ and only use base media (DMEM/F12 w/ HEPES) supplemented with 128 ug/mL AA2P following a Wnt modulator schedule (CHIR and IWR1). …rentprotocols.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/cp…
The protocol is also protein- and xeno- free making the CMs less variable and more applicable for drug discovery and regenerative medicine purposes. Center for Innovation in Brain Science Gootter-Jensen Foundation UA College of Medicine – Tucson BIO5 Institute Jessika Iwanski, MD PhD
