The Blackfriars Pavement. Created 70-85 AD discovered in 1832 during the building of 53 Jewry Wall Street. Ending up beneath the Great Central Railway station which was built the 1890’s, it was lifted and moved in the 1970’s to be on display in Jewry Wall Museum. #MosaicMonday

September from the Latin septem "seven", originally the 7th month in the 10 month Roman calendar of Romulus but by 713 BC Numa Pompilius added January & February to the end of the year, by 45 AD January started the year, September became the ninth month but retained its name.

September 5th / 12th - The Ludi Romani (Roman Games) were a religious festival held annually starting in 366 BC from Sept 12th-14th, in 1 BC they were extended from Sept 4th-19th. The games (ludi) were held in honour of the King of the Roman Gods, Jupiter Optimus Maximus.
