"The real health needs of the American people - Alzheimers, heart disease, diabetes, cancer...." Yes, those are exactly what NIH already focuses on! How does cutting 40% of funding for Alzheimers, cancer and other "real health needs" help the American people?

Federal science cuts aren’t just halting medical research or disrupting clinical trials. They are already costing us $8.1 billion and 35,000 jobs. The projected loss is $16 billion and 68,000 jobs every year. This reaches every corner of America.

Isn't American science incredible? 2 doses/year. No detectable viral load. No disease progression. No transmission. Lencapivir can prevent millions of infections & save millions of lives. A real shame nobody will be able to afford it & the government has destroyed HIV research.

In a stunning turn of events, the Trump admin briefly lifted its freeze on NIH grants to Columbia yesterday- only to refreeze them the same day. Over $700M in research funding and over 170 grants remain on hold. Scientists and science - should not be caught in this crossfire.

You don’t notice public health—until it fails. The reason you don’t worry about smallpox? Or cholera in your tap water? It’s because decades of public health work made those dangers disappear. But here’s the thing: diseases don’t just go away forever. They come back if we stop
