Frightening data from Financial Times Extreme heat is deadly in its own right, as well as increasing wildfire risk, air pollution & the spread of disease. ā€œ#ClimateChange is making heatwaves more frequent, more intense, & impacting larger geographical areasā€

Did you know when scientists first warned congress about climate change, the oil industry started paying scientists and lobbyists to lie and say it wasn’t true in order to confuse the public. It worked. All here: PBS’ The Power of Big Oil pbs.org/wgbh/frontline…

As usual humans are destroying them, via overfishing. One. Krill is used to feed farmed salmon & make ā€˜fish oil’ capsules. Zooplankton lock away as much planet-warming carbon as annual emissions of 55 million petrol cars, stopping thrm from further augmenting #ClimateChange

Clean air @repmtg? Then stop your leader from bringing back coal. Clean water? Then stop your leader loosening pollution laws. Clean ground water? Then stop your leader allowing big business to max out US groundwater. Sunshine? Instead it’s a Republican fuelled #ClimateChange

#WindFallTaxNow Same profit for supermarkets. We don’t have a cost of living crisis, we have a cost of GREED crisis. The Labour Party, better targets than the old, sick & disabled.

So instead of uniting in grief about this awful flooding tragedy, caused by extreme weather fuelled by #ClimateChange, the MAGA crowd are twisting in knots trying to blame Biden 🤪

In 2023, Tories withdrew guidance urging retailers to offer deals & discounts on minimally processed foods eg fruit, vegetables, grains, fresh meat U‑turn came after #lobbying by Food & Drink Federation representing ultra‑processed food sellers eg NestlĆ©, Coca‑Cola, Mars Unilever

Agreed. If we get our hydro pumps there will be backup. Nuclear is costly, long build time, ever ever waste, & harms its workers & neighbours. We could put #solar on all UK roofs for price of 2.5 #nuclear plants. & Accident/terrorist? Chernobyl radioactivity spread =size 1/3rd UK

Young people, unfortunately your parents aren’t doing much about this, time to organise. Note the timeline in this clip is already out of date. It’s happening faster than predicted just a few years ago.

Stop with the ferries. Not as bad as Westminster govt with its 2 frigates. HMS Westminster underwent major refit 2014 to 2024 that became so long & expensive MoD ended up cannibalising 1 ship to keep other operational. Cost to taxpayer =Ā£100 million. Not reported in press.

Ever thought about #Muirburn? ā€˜Intentional burning of moorland vegetation to encourage new growth for management of moorland for benefit of grouse’ ie young shoots for food, older patches for cover. But nearly all its benefits serve 1 purpose: more birds to shoot 🧵 1/4

"As soon as you let industrial waste into sewage, it’s hazardous waste," said EA officer. "Masking it as sludge & calling it fertiliser is a problem." The result is a system that financially benefits water companies, farmers & industry - but not the public or the #environment.
