The stunning Fair Isle – the most remote inhabited island in the UK, famed for its seabirds and fabulous knitwear. It lies almost exactly halfway between Shetland and Orkney and can be reached by boat or small plane (📸 @jimrichardsonng) #ForTheLoveOfScotland

Traigh an Tobair Fhuair is a little gem on the west coast of the fabulous Isle of Colonsay. A peaceful and idyllic spot next to the golf course and boasting an impressive collection of slate cairns.

This is a huge development. Proud to be able to say I was looking at these fields 8 years ago. Was an incredible experience.

International Dark Sky Week, chance to pay attention to the light pollution all around us…and learn to recognize it. St. Louis Arch, Central Park, Bonneville Salt Flats (with Salt Lake City over 100 miles away.) Thanks DarkSky International for your work. #DarkSkyWeek

Thirty-two years ago in June 1991 we published The Colorado: A River Drained Dry in National Geographic. Today they announced water conservation plans to keep the river from going dry. I assume somebody finally got around to reading our article. #ColoradoRiver

Kudos to Kristof for headlining this major world news (and for taking journalists to task for ignoring it while the race from crisis to crisis.)

Bing’s Copilot AI bot just told me that the Callanish Stones “predate Stonehenge by 5,000 years.” Uh, no, not close. Callanish is about same age as Stonehenge, both are about 5,000 years old. Even Ancient Aliens doesn't get it THAT wrong.
